I need a job for the summer, any tips?

Any tips:

Do a few ''practise'' solicitations : eg. go to a place where they accept anyone and are desperate for people ( mac do's around here accept anyone) and when they say they accept you you just say that you don't want to work there.
That way you can get experienced with apllying for jobs and get in a higher than average joint.

I'd just try to apply in some highstreet pc shop after if I were you, or in Halfords or in ''compedator'' or something.

Thanks for the replies!

Theres a real lack of vacancies here though, so I was wondering if theres anywhere online that I can apply?

And by the way I live in Ilford.

Thank you!

I'm with the same problem, except I need one as soon as possible. My parents have said I'm too lazy and need a job, otherwise I'm not allowed to go to Vegas this summer. I have little time left until they're booking and at this point, I'm finding it hard to get one! :(

Don't work in retail, it's insanely crap.

Work in a call center(incoming only) and get paid an okay wage for doing nowt. Know a couple of people that do this - they seem to think it's not bad work.

trying to get a job in a call center myself, seems pretty good money for talking :D

"trying"? Their always looking for suckers....I mean, people! :p I hear job ads on the radio, in the paper and online every other day for them. Good luck though. :)

yea well when i say trying, i mean i have been sitting on my buttocks without a job for all of my first year in uni, and decided im gonna apply at some point :p

Waiter/bar-work?

Sounds crappy, but in a decent establishment it can be great. Plus by 18 you have presumably done some kind of work already, which you can either get back into, or try to use that experience to get to the next 'level'?
