I need a job for the summer, any tips?

if its just for the summer i will stress again find a recruitment agency, they get stack loads of jobs usually in summer for students etc who are off uni, from contracts with the royal mail for postmen, to council workers doing parkwork and street work etc, leafletting and the likes, to working in factorys. Choose which weeks you work, easy way to tott up some decent money and get time off as you please for holidays or whatever.

I'd go with the temp agencies, during college summer holidays (albeit in the mid 90s) I managed to get a couple of helpdesk jobs that paid well and provided decent references later on.

This time last year I managed to score a job at Asda. I'm 18 too, and at the time It was the summer before I started uni, and I am so glad I found this job, not because of the monotonous tasks, etc, but the flexibility; its great! I now work seasonally in a store in Yorkshire, mainly summer, christmas and easter holidays. All I do is say that I want to come back to work, even the odd weekend, they'll take me on, then when I want to leave, I just tell the personnel dept.

Right now, many of my school mates are stranded, looking for jobs which they crucially need to survive the next uni year, while I still have mine intact.

In fact, I can transfer my job to where I live the rest of the time (North East), or If I decide to move to America for a year, I can transfer my job to their Walmarts easily.

Definately recommend that you apply there, jobs definately not great, but its the flexibility that counts.

I'm also looking for a second job, just for the summer

are you in college? If so, what are you studying for / what do you want to do eventually? Would be good to look for experience in your intended line of work, may give you some focus for job hunting.

Also, a little voluntary work is always good too. It's a different kind of experience than paid work, you will meet some nice people, it's good for the soul, and will impress employers too when you come to apply for full time work.
