I guess its just a more professional product.

That is the key... you pay for professional products. but all companies try and compete at the cheapo £35 end of the market too.

The difference between a £30 Netgear and a £90 Netgear is VERY noticable. And the same goes with most other companies. I guess someone like Draytek is not bothering with that cheapo end of the market. (I agree with the quailty of that kit... nice stuff)

Lack of Tomato support is what made the cheapo Linksys' routers I found hopeless. Stuck with naff firmware on a cheap box that couldn't be updated. And either it kept dropping the ADSL line or kept dropping the Wireless Connection. but that was from a £40 box... which included a free PCMCIA card... so not surprising it was carp.

(Yes - carp - not a sweary. And if you have ever tried to use a fish as a router you will understand my comment...)

ot, but crap was declassified as a sweary a few months ago.

Can anyone confirm if there is custom firmware for the following: Linksys AG241

Had a bit of a Google, but nothing conclusive. To clarify, I wouldn't need a wireless option, so if there's a better modem/router by Linksys then feel free to suggest one

I use a Linksys WRT54GL + Tomato firmware with a Draytek Vigor 100 Ethernet PPoA/PPoE works really well.

I had a DG834N, sent it back due to connection dropping apparently it was fault, signal was awful through 1 wall and 15ft of air.

Are there any router out there that can actually go through a wall? Stuck on a BeBox at the mo, made a dish from foil but it did nothing.

I had a Netgear WN802T access point that would go for miles.

Replaced it with an AirPort Extreme (Apple) and it also goes far far far..

(Not routers though)
