I need a white subwoofer

I have some Kanto YU6. I want a sub to go with them for a mediumish room, just gaming and blasting my music. I nearly dived in and got the matching Sub 8 (£293) but then I thought I'd just check there isn't something really good out there that costs less. Needs to be active and white, other than that nothing.
The ones I see recommended all the time on Reddit are not sold here.

There is an open box Kanto S8 for £200 delivered atm too.

BK Electronics Gem or Gemini II maybe? White, 10", dual input, made in the UK, well regarded company. £254.

Do you have experience with this brand and we're it your dosh, would you choose over the matching open box sub at fifty less
I don't, but coincidentally was considering a white sub at a similar price point recently and had basically becided to go for the BK. It's 10" vs 8" on the Kanto (and most other stuff at this price point), and I like the idea of buying from a small British manufacturer. Audiophiles all seem to think you need to spend at least double this budget to get anything half decent, but the BK subs are broadly well regarded and represent value for money as they sell direct.

However, I am probably moving soon so decided to hold off for now.

They often have 'seconds' on their ebay account with a moderate reduction, but they're on holiday for a couple of weeks so don't have any listed.

I've got a BKElec Gemini II as part of my home cinema and would happily recommend. Take caution asking audiophiles whether it's any good, they'll potentially come out with nonsense like it isn't loud enough to fill a room and you need to spend £1500 on a sub for it to be worthwhile.... Which is rubbish. It's more than adequate for a normal sized room.

Why not just wrap a Sub with White Vinyl? Most speakers and subs are just square boxes, so should be amongst the easiest of things to do.

Seems bonkers to have to compromise in other ways just to get the colour you want.

Agree, except I'm not as literally every sub I look at is available in either colour, including the ones mentioned above and the Sub8.

The matching sub will be fine, and it matches ;)

But if you're happy to go with something else, the BK Elec Gemini II is a great shout.

Yes, the BK look good and are bigger (is that better) but in the end I got the matching one. Plus it's simpler for me just having to control the crossover and gain.
My setup is already overkill for the size of the room but hey ho.

The bk Gemini is ok for small and medium sized rooms for hifi

For home cinema it's suitable for small rooms .

Ive owned subs £30-£2000 and the upper end ones are worth every penny and totally obliterate subs like the gemini. I'm sorry but you're completely wrong. I've got somethhing like +30db output at 20hz over the gemini. The Gemini will just blow up outputting 20hz at anything near usable movie volumes on heavy action scenes..calibrate your sub and play ready player one catalyst explosion scene at -10db..when I did I thought **** me that is scary, if felt like a real life pressure wave.

The Gemini is a only 10" sealed box sub. I personally would use the Gemini in the bedroom system.

It's not just the volume it's the frequency depth , impact and pressuration of the room. The bk simply cannot do that. There are no figures but it's not as good as the svs sb1000 and I have 24db more output at 20hz. It would take 10 of sb1000 to equal my dual subs

No way would I use Gemini in the home cinema it's simply not enough.

When I put a movie demo scene it's actually terrifying. I would say the pressuristion of the room is like firing a real gun, that same physical feeling.

As for white subs theres BK, and arendel off the top of my head. Svs possibly?

They look good VFM but I only know what one of the knobs does.

Volume is simple enough
Phase is timing between the speakers if you have avr which has calibration mic and setup it'll do this automatically

Crossover is when you send it full range in hifi and you enable it. If you have a avr then you send filtered audio and you disable it or set it to max

tbh you've actually entirely highlighted my point with how AV nuts criticise equipment. I've not said that a high end sub isn't going to be better, just that an entry level sub like the Gemini is a solid first sub in a standard sized room. The guy is looking for a sub to pair with some speakers that are a few hundred quid, he's hardly going to jump straight into dropping a few grand on a sub!

You never said that. You're back tracking.

Op didn't give his room size, whether it's open to other rooms, or listening level that will deem which sub is good match.

There's the monoprice 10" for £450 that will have at least 14db headroom at 20hz and more suitable for UK living room for movies. It's not white though however it will outclass lifestyle subs

I didn't give room size etc as I felt it wasn't important considering I have an entry level equipment just better than the standard 2.1 sets aimed at pc users. I appreciate all the posts regardless, it's always good to learn new things and something to consider if I were to ever throw more money at a setup for living room etc.

Where am I backtracking. All I said was that I'd happily recommend the Gemini II, and to be wary of anyone telling you that you need to spend £2k on a sub that is actually worth owning!
