I need an operation to remove a tumour

Thanks all i'm taking it easy at home my pain is coming and going and hopefuly it will be all going soon. I'm due to go back to see my consultants in the next week or so to discuss the results from the lab after they have analyzed the tumour.

Well I was in the clear for three years and its come back. The issue with cancer surgery is that you need to remove with negative margins ie to remove normal tissue around the tumour to guarantee total cancer cell removal. However where my tumour was deep within the pelvis/bottom it's stuffed full of vital organs nerves etc so it's impossible. The plan now is to remove it again and do a course of Radio if possible (the area is quite large) otherwise I'm stuck with it. For those that don't know every time you have cancer surgery you run the high risk of spreading cancer cells elsewhere within the surgical area. Hence the high risk.

Thanks guys tbh I don't often post on here, but remembered I posted 'first time around' so thought I would update. If there is one thing I learnt is keep pestering your doc if u have found a lump or have weird pains. Never put it off !!

Mate that sucks, will definitely be thinking of you and hoping the best, when is the second op due? :(

It's actually not set in stone but early in the new year it's been growing slowly for a year 1cm delaying surgery is actually beneficial for the reasons posted above. Ie less chance of spread

Very best of luck to you... I'm sure you'll beat it...

I can't really offer any advice - all I can say is that I'll be thinking of you, and I that hope that everything works out for the best.

Times like these you need every ounce of bravery, you certainly seem to have bucketloads. :)

Ironically had had biopsy results today that we're good news, sorry your news wasnt good too. :(

Just noticed we're the same age.

On the plus side - if the tumour isn't getting involved with your organs then the hands off approach isn't going to lose you any ground.
