I'm looking to buy a new NVME drive. I'm upgrading from a 128GB Samsung SATA 3 SSD. My budget is £130 maximum, and the minimum storage has to be 1tb.

Can anyone here recommend me a good NVME drive?

+1 to the above. I have got this as primary drive in my second pc. Fairly quick and good value for money. If you are after a faster drive then the SN750/Adata SX8200 pro/Sabrent Rocket are also good options but will be over the 100 mark.

Sorry for jumping in, but didn't want to make a new thread for 1 question, I'm also looking for a nvme. Just ordered a ge66 which has a spare gen 3 slot (why not gen4 on a new laptop?) But will a gen4 nvme do or does it have to be gen3?

And as above for OP I'm also looking at either WD blue/Black

Might struggle at the budget but I've been using 970 Evo Pluses myself - so far seem decent though do need heatsinking/spreader to maintain performance (and probably longer term reliability). Have the advantage as well that Samsung's Windows 7 drivers seem to be the best if you are still using an older OS :s

Intel 10th gen doesn’t have pcie4.0...

Pcie4.0 drive will just default to using pcie3.0 so there is no problem using one, you’ll just be paying a premium for speed you can’t use.

This is a easy 1 for me. I have just upgraded.

All the research I did and peoples suggestions on here.. conclusion...

If you only game then cheap is best as you won't really see any difference.

Now if your going to be transferring large files etc then go for expensive as that is the only real difference maker. The faster speed will allow it transfer a lot faster than the cheap.

That's just from what I have seen and read anyway. I suggest going to YouTube and watching the tests they have done to get a better picture.

Ive seen recommendations to avoid ssds without dram, yet the wd blue nvme drive that everyone recommends is dramless. Is this less of an issue on the faster interface? Or should we be avoiding the dram versions of these too?

Cheers
