I need help checking my work

You are judged and assessed on your own ability. It would appear that English isn't your forté, so just consolidate your efforts in the subjects that you do succeed in.

Getting others to do the work for you is very lame, and frankly, people with your mentality disrupt all sorts of processes - interviews, workplace, fraudulent CV claims etc.

Do your best, but do it yourself. We can proof read for grammar etc, but nothing more. This isn't a contractor forum either!

********. They are there to help. They won't tell you the answers, but they can suggest areas to look into.

And it is about getting ****ed. Had a merry time (far too much in fairness) in my undergraduate, and a good time in my postgraduate.

They aren't there to help, they are there to teach and guide but not help you with your work or check or or read it before it'd marked.

And no it isn't about getting drunk, just because you're doing a degree doesn't mean you should change anything about yourself. I did all that before I went to university anyway. You're there to do a job - if you don't plan to get a first then why are you spending thousands of pounds on the opportunity?

Undergrad and postgrad were pretty much the same as now, except I had no money back then. Wasn't paid for my efforts.

Can you not nip in to the Uni Library and ask one of the resident subject experts to proof read and for help?

Edit, oh well, whatever, nevermind. Noticed you are doing an Open Uni course.

I don't go back to Uni until the end of September so have no intention of doing anything like work for now :p.

I'm almost half tempted to contact the OU over this.

What do you think, Mr Maciej Grischke?

Don't be an ********.

You seem like a very bitter chap. You fail your exams or something?

Precisely. If you go to a tutor (in good time, not 10 before the deadline), they will give you guidance on things to read, and some useful information etc. They don't need to read your work to be able to help.

Just because you did it all before university (do you ever stop and pause to consider that just because you've got strong opinions, that there can be other routes that people follow?) doesn't mean we all did.

For me, I found it a very liberating experience, where by I came out of my shell more etc. Ironically enough, this is probably a bigger factor in me getting the job I have, than my degree...

This is what I took the OP to mean when he said he needed help checking his work.
Not as some have interpreted omgdoyourownworkyoucheater :D

I took it as him wanting people to do the work for him as he said "To do the work for me", although he followed it with a  so who knows.

No, he's plagiarising you goober.

If he's going to cheat, he doesn't deserve the qualification.

You seem like a very amoral chap. Did you cheat on your exams or something?

You the world police or something? Let people get on with their own stuff why don't you.

Nothing to do with being amoral (I'd say you're more sad for trying to interfere with someones like, than I am amoral for not giving a ****), rather just a realistic person.

I knew people that cheated on a few things, and frankly......who cares? Most of them had no interest in that particular subject, and didn't pursue careers where it would be an issue.

As for myself, I wasn't really interested. Too much hassle for something pretty inconsequential.

The guy is planning on cheating his way to something which the overwhelming majority have to work very hard for. It's dishonest, Machiavellian, and wrong. Yes, I'm damn well taking umbrage. I'm offended that the OP thinks this is acceptable and I'm offended that he thinks I would help. He's devaluing other people's achievements and also cheating himself.

There are other options available for the OP, yet he chooses this? That says a lot about him as a person. It should not be encouraged.

Strange how it's also clearly spelled out in the OU policy that it isn't tolerated, don't you think? I'm pretty sure they would care and they would be the authority on the matter.

Paying for work from other sources and submitting it as your own is also cheating. It is intellectually dishonest to cheat and thus give one student an unfair advantage over others. [...]

If a case of plagiarism is proven, this is a serious offence and the Open University disciplinary procedures will be followed, as described under the Student Regulations SA 1.6 and SD 4.3.

Go have your period somewhere else.

Checking is still influencing his grade and is as such cheating. A university level student shouldn't be relying on people checking his/ her work.

My flatmate and I would regularly read each other's essays. We were very doing different subjects and particularly as we got more advanced had little idea if the content was accurate, relevant, or answered the question but we could see spelling mistakes, typos etc that the other had missed because we hadn't spent the last 6 weeks writing the damn thing so we read what was there rather than what was meant to be there.

I don't consider that cheating after all, the research, words and argument were all mine. My flatmate did not do any research for me, nor did he write or rewrite any of my work for me. He simply acted as a copy editor and I did the same for him.

Surely it's sensible to have someone look over any work you submit?

It is sensible and it's still your own work. It absolutely isn't plagiarism or dishonest.

Do you think academics don't have peers look over their work before submission? It's absurd to think that people must exist in bubbles.

Lovely misogynist insult by the way. As it happens, I'm not the one bitching about the actions of someones life on a forum.

Most people don't really care that much. As someone who has been through the system, I say more power to them. If they use it to better their lives, then why not?

Actually at most universities this is not acceptable.

(Obviously everyone does it)

What rubbish, I've been an academic and I most definitely read my colleagues papers and helped them with their spellings and they read mine. He's not stating people change the content only help with the spellings.
