Does your old motherboard have a speaker that you can use?

Also have you tried clearing the cmos?

That dram light staying red doesn't sound right so I would pull all of the ram modules, reset the cmos then try the ram one by one in slot A1 on the board , try and power up - if it fails swap the ram for another stick, reset cmos and try again.

Tedious I know but no pain no gain lol

i managed to get a motherboard speaker for free, i installed it, and there is no sound coming out at all what does that mean, the manual does not say

if the DRAM LED is stuck on its not going past the initial boot, speaker or not your not getting a sound out of it.

like the above says, pull RAM modules, go one at a time, resetting CMOS each go.

But the most likely suspect is that you're missing some kind of power cable or not enough Power is going to the board.

any chance of getting hold of a different PSU to try?

Also what speed memory are you running?

I have this particular memory, but i think knowing my luck it is not compatible because just looking through the manual its not in the table

I have used single ram to go into the slots, the DRAM led still stays on. Its even there when no ram is inserted. There is no sound at all from the motherboard

I have also tried restting CMOS, i have pressed the button and have removed the battery, but still no luck.

I cannot try any other types of memory, and neither another PSU, the PSU and memory i have are both 5 years old, and they wont be any use

Hi ive just finished putting together my PC and when i turn it on i cant seem to get anything on the monitor, theres no signal.

I have used both adapters that came with the GTX 480, im not too sure what i have done wrong

First thing to do is check ur motherboard manual.
Most boards have a post procedure that they go through...checking memory CPU and card.
See if u can identify what's failing. Some motherboards have LCD some do it by beeps and some go by led light signals.

I'm not sure what else is left to suggest. If you are sure all of the cables are connected correctly and have tried each stick of ram one by one into each slot. You could remove the cpu and check that none of the pins in the socket are bent and failing that I think you will have to return the board as faulty

I checked the pins again, i even have it set up out of the case, i have made sure that the 8 and 24 pins are connected well. I will send the board back on Monday. Does anyone know how long it may take?

Silly question but have u PUSHED in the memory properly until it clicks?
Check the that the bios jumper isn't set to clear.
Heat sink seated correctly?

I have pushed the memory in until both clips come down. As for jumpers, i havent done anything with them

Im sure i have seated the heatsink correctly, its all screwed down

I bought the Silverstone FT02 case, there was no speaker with it, so i went to the shop to get one

Anyone live near me, so they can help me check i out?

you could get it down to a local pc store, but my guess is mobo is dead.

I had the same problem with a 5850. If try changing the rail the graphics card is on (if you have a multi rail PSU.)

i think i have tried another rail, i cant remember. But even the Geforce 6600 does not display anything, and i know for sure that it works. and doesnt hook upto the psu at all. Im going to send the motherboard back to OcUK tomorrow, hopefully i dont have to wait long for a replacement.
