I need help staging my upgrades

does your ram support x.m.p in the bios?

set to 1600mhz and set dram voltage to 1.65v then see if it works ok or use x.m.p profile 1 if it supports it

I enabled the XMP Profile, that equaled in an instant BIOS.

I then manually set the DRAM to 1600MHz and set the voltage to 1.65v. So far seems so good but I'm not sure if the RAM is actually running at 1600Mhz as CPU-Z is giving conflicting info? Can you please confirm this for me?

In this tab is says max bandwidth is 667, so 667*2 = 1334

In this tab it says DRAM frequency 798.2 so 798.2 = 1596.4

So is the RAM running at 1600Mhz?

Thanks

yeah

you have to x by 2 what cpu-z ram freq speed says that's down to double data rate

x.m.p can be unstable on some boards so manual setup is better

that's probably why xmp is failing its only setting 1.5v for 1600mhz when really you want around 1.6v-1.65v

Wow, so for all this time the reason it was BSOD on 1600Mhz was because of the voltage setting?

I can't thank you enough for helping me resolve that, I greatly appreciate it.

One thing I don't undertand though is why in the first screenshot is says max bandwidth is 667Mhz but in the 2nd one it says 798Mhz. The screenshots were both taken when the RAM was set at 1600Mhz.

the first screenshot gives you all the details of what the speeds the ram is capable of

the rated speeds/timings/dram voltage

the second screenshot is what the ram is actually set to/running at

you could pop back in the bios and use the same timings as whats in the first screenshot so

9
9
9
28

if its unstable try 10-10-10-28

or keep current timings and try with 1.55v dram or 1.6v dram voltage see if that works

Thank you - On the current settings it seems to be running stable with no issues so should I just leave it as is until something arises?

Many thanks.

It`s a bit rude hijacking someone else`s thread, second one I`ve seen so far.
It would have been quicker to drop OCUK a note via Customer Services and you would`nt have had to wait 2 days for a response.
