Here are the current specs on my computer
AMD FX(tm)-4170 Quad core processor 4.40GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640
4GB RAM
Windows 8

I use my computer for playing games quite a lot and it gets hot.
It can play most games at a high FPS.
What should I be upgrading to make it more quite and cooler?

What games and resolution you playing at?
What make and model is your Psu.
And, the all important question, how much is your budget?
 
I'm playing GTA 4, Just cause 2, Minecraft, Kerbal Space programme and my screen resolution is 1366 x 768
I think my PSU is Xigmatek 600W PSU
My budget would be about 200-300
 
Is the problem just that it runs too loud/hot or that you want to play games with higher settings?

Are you using the stock AMD cooler?
