I need help with work

Hi all,

I've recently been taken on by a local company for some work.

They are very sales orientated so only see things from a sales point of view. I was taken on because they had a target "2000 blogs in 90 days to get to the top of google searches". Crazy I know, told them it wouldn't work and to concentrate on quality, and there is still no guarantee that we hit the number 1 spot on google.

Now, the main issue I have is that they only see things from their own point of view, they aren't seeing it from the customers point of view at all. I knew what a Will was before i started there but the rest of it was an eye opener. They know the products and think everyone else does too. I've knocked up a quick little google form to see what people outside the industry actually know to see if it backs up what I think.

LINKY

If you could take the time to quickly fill it out for me I would extremely grateful.

Please post any comments back on issues or suggestions etc. First time I've done this and after a solid week of reading terrible 3rd party blogs and pushing SEO etc my brain is frazzled. First time I've found a job in a while that I am actually enjoying and can see some future in so getting them on the right track would be amazing for me!

Done.

2000 in 90 days would probably count against you seo wise unless it's 2000 quality ones(let's be honest it's probably not at that frequency).

It depends on what keywords they want to hit topspot on. "Wills" no chance "[location]wills" could be done depending on the competition in the area.

While I have a will it's not something you're taught in school and a lot of people my age wouldn't even consider having one so it's far from expected that potential customers have a clue what it entails.

Thanks :D

yes, some of the quality has been dire and I've had to rewrite quite a lot. That in itself is a challenge as before I started I only knew what a Will was, things like LPAs and Trusts I'd never heard of.

After 2 weeks I've finally got them to understand that quality is key, 2000 word blog posts would be great, they are implementing new changes as well and as they cover all of Wales and England there's lots to do.

Just hoping if I can show them a little bit of what average joe on the street knows it could help understand what we need to do!

Fingers crossed :D

2000 blog posts in 90 days is madness. I'd recommend they halve that, at least, and focus on quality. Keyword stuffing articles don't work anymore -- in fact, they're more likely to be penalised if they're pumping out low quality articles like it ain't no thang.

Glad to see that you've got them coming around, though.

With something so intricate, you could have a lot of interesting work lined up, there. :)

Done :)

Tell your boss to get real with his expectations. SEO isn't something which is achieved by churning out content. Good luck with it, sounds interesting.

Thanks everyone that has helped, so far it's sitting just over 100 people and so far it's proving what I suspected :)
