Where abouts in Middx are you?
I've got a bottle of Moet, Piper-Heidseck, Etienne Dumont & 2 bottles of Laytons (1 Rose) that you can have your pick of if you want to collect.
I can't stand the stuff:)

Thanks for the very kind offer - But I've got 'em now...

btw - I work in Staines..

Oh yeah - I'll be going to M&S and Waitrose...
The M&S Desroches Brut is rather tasty and should come in under budget. I don't rate the Oudinot myself but it's perfectly decent and looks and tastes the part.

My local M&S was doing the De Saint Gall Premier Cru for £14 the other day and that's easily the pick of the bunch from M&S.

As for Waitrose, the Duval-Leroy Fleur De Champagne Premier Cru is quite good, but I think it's £21. The Bredon Brut Non Vintage is okay for the price (£15) but I think the Alexandre Bonnet Brut Rose @ £18 would make the perfect gift.

EDIT: Bugger.

Had some of this the other day, didn't really like it. Still, you could have chosen Deutz or Demoiselle :D

There was an expert on BBC 5 live a few weeks ago and they were doing a run down of (what he thought) were the nicest champagnes. He recommended a one from ALDI that they sell for £11 which is made by a famous vineyard. I can't remember the name but it should be pretty easy to narrow it down with that price.

Edit - damn, too late :p

Yes saw an interesting series on BBc2 with Oz clarke? The Wine expert and that bloke from top gear.

They traveled about trying to educate mr Topgear in the ways of good food and wine.

The best champagne they had was some bloke making it in his "shed" selling it for 80p a litre or something like that.

good show, very entertaining.

Especially as all the champagne in that picture is really chavvy [apart from Veuve which is rather nice] :p

Gillette corner, left, straight on.
You've got one now anyway;)

WoW - I live right near there... Little Place called Norwood Green.

Are you far from the Big Tesco's?

p.s - That's ok - Not worries about the bottle :)
