I need two terabytes!

I need two terabytes... the drives need to be reliable as I will not be RAID1'ing them...

What drives are best for performance.... and which are best price-wise?

Samsung F1.

Enterprise class drives, but £30 more expensive than the Samsung F1.

what data will be stored on them? will there be another backup system? how valuble is the data?

Never rely on "reliable" drives. Any drive can fail. Make sure you backup anything you'd mind losing.

Exactly - don't rely on one system to work - back up, then make back ups of back ups (sorry that's a poor sentance lol)..

If money's a slight issue - then I'd just buy "normal" hard drives and spend that extra £60 toward a back up solution

Good plan. By far the best performing hard drivers at the moment.

Only slight black mark is the 3 year warranty over Seagate's 5 years.
