But then have to suffer with poor graphics, the only thing i can see the wii have going for it is the controller.
Meh. Humbug. The control method is a huge plus but so are the types of games that lend themselves to the control method.
Hardcore couch potatoes, sorry gamers, might like frantic button bashing and hunched shoulders whilst they frag some n00b with their l33t skilz but the rest of the world actually just want some light hearted family fun.
That is where the GC/Wii have the advantage, it isn't just the controller as such it is the game style and content and accessibility that becomes possible because of the controller.
As for "suffering poor graphics" that is cobblers. Graphics are not what makes a game good except to the hardcore gamerz. Fun is what makes a game good to the rest of the planet. Atari had dreadful graphics in '79, they were black and white and just blocks but my god it was fun. The ZX81 could only handle a few colours and "jetset willy" was blocky low res and somehow it managed to be incredible fun.
It is only in recent years that graphics have become worthy of being a criteria on their own and my god has gameplay suffered for it on the whole.
So well done the Wii for bringing a very accessible form of fun gaming to the masses with inoffensive games that don't generally require age certificates, are suitable for the whole family and are easy to understand and enjoy with a controller that doesn't require button bashing.
As for looking a tool ... hmmmmmm...... is that the hunched shouldered couch potatoe with a furrowed brow getting stressed out because he isn't winning in the deathmatch or the average joe in a room full of people having a laugh playing wii tennis?
Don't get me wrong I have a 360, I like hardcore games, but I am not going to dismiss anyone who isn't a hardcore gamer or who enjoys alternative gaming as a tool.
