I own both PS3 and 360, and i have this to say *GTA4*

Actually, it did. Which is why we saw the PS2 getting a hard drive, Which people didn't buy.

Online gaming, a feature that was massive on Xbox, Needed the Hard drive.

PS2 never went online really in this country, And missed a massive market

I'm pretty sure if 360 had bluray, and a compulsary HD aswell as it's superior GPU. We'd see even more beautiful games than we currently do, and chances are we'd see the PS3 lagging even further behind. or alternatively, If the PS3 had the Better GPU, Same would apply, 360 would likely lag behind

Ultimately it's really too close to call IMO.

Having seen comparison shots of earlier PS3 and 360 games the 360 came out on top. Add to that the fact that programming on the PS3 has been described as difficult and that this consequently effects the ability to fully utilise the Cell processor. In many instances this must hamper the consoles overall performance.

As others have said, framerate issues and lower res playback on the PS3 version of GTA4 suggest it might indeed be slightly behind.

I know for one that the graphics processor in the 360 (ATi x1900) is superior to the PS3 (Nvidia 7800) which as anyone will know should make a pretty big difference.

summed it up precisely really, does anybody really expect to get better FPS on their PC if they had a 8 core monster cpu and a medium performer GPU versus a dual/quad core + better performing GPU rig?

so many ppl love to believe sony BS time after time, get a dose of reality and realise it's not the powerhouse they say it is.

Xbox came out a lot later than PS2. Original PS2 days didn't really require it, low-bit saved game files were only required for storage, and I'm sure the recommenced 8Mb probably wasn't too common on the hard drive front. :p

Xbox and its media capabilities emphasized why hard drives should be mandatory in consoles.

The Console architecture doesn't make it as straight forward as that.

The SPE's in the PS3 are capable of geometry processing and the GPU is also capable of sharing some processing with the the Cell itself due to a wide bandwidth.

Which is why people are saying the Cell makes a difference.

It would be bad business and bad relations with M$ to allow the PS3 version to be significantly better than the other, especially after the massive paycheck for DLC.

You think a high class developer like rockstar would gimp their own game just because microsoft paid them $50 million dollars which is pocket change when you consider the amount this game will make over the next few years...I think they have a bit more integrity than that.
 
One thing I have to mention is that it's pretty sad how people say 'I have both PS3 and 360' whenever they make a critique or point on one of them or its respective games. It doesn't make your crazy theory any less preposterous, nor does it mean you have a free pass to **** on the other system.

Both console variants are a big let down for me, they both seem to have their positives and negatives.

I expect PC version will be far superior but gameplay isn't all that anyway.

I was going to say the same in regards to people that that try to justify their posts in console war threads by saying "I own both consoles" at the end, owning both consoles isn't some magic formula to stop yourselves from being/becoming a fanboy of either console and nor does it make your post automatically more valid than everyone else's.

It's to show how neutral they are! Even though half the time their Bias is more obvious than Graham Nortons sexuality.

really? so what would you have thought if i hadnt mentioned i had a PS3? judging by my signature alone...makes you wonder which console is my favorite.

people state they have both simply to show they are not a typical fanboy. why would a fanboy own both consoles?

if i state i own both consoles, its because i have a problem with both of them

first of all where did I say my post was directed at you ?, my post was a generalisation, anyway you've obviously taken offence, now unless your guilty of what I'm saying then I really don't know why that would be the case, I'm not saying everyone that owns both consoles is a fanboy of either machine but there are people on here that blatantly are fanboys of one console even though they own both, it happens, what you are saying is that just because you own both consoles it makes you impervious to 'fanboyism', pure folly.
