I got this book for Christmas today and haven't been able to put it down, I don't usually like autobiographies or comedy books in general but this is brilliant, it is absolutely hilarious, has anyone else read it?

If you like 'i'm Alan Partridge' or 'Knowing Me Knowing You' I would greatly recommend this.
It is strange reading a whole autobiography written in character, and I wasn't really expecting much tbh, but I am loving it. I have nearly finished it already. The bits where he is describing how popular he believes he is are just so in character and hilarious, my family kept seeing me laughing away and saying 'it can't be that funny!'

Here is my favourite little anecdote so far-

(under a picture of Alan wearing a blazer)

My best ever blazer. It actually belonged to Lenny Henry but i stole it from his dressing room at Comic Relief. He came after me and demanded the jacket back, saying it was his. I simply stared him down and replied, 'Prove it.' 'I'm going to report this Alan,' he called as I walked off down the corridor. 'Oh yeah' I shouted, without even looking back. 'And who do you think they're going to believe?' The next year I decided to give it to a charity shop, but they didn't want it. So I just threw it in a bin. Easy come, easy go.
:D

You only end up reading the whole thing in his voice anyway i suppose:p

It does work great as a book though imo, it is great reading his account of things you already know(if you have seen the shows). Especially his account of the lunch with Tony Hayers, not how i recall it!:D

Just this minute finished it and i think i might start it again straight away! (though i do already have 2 others on the go and i haven't read anything of Human Traces for weeks now).

I am thinking of getting the audiobook to listen to as I imagine it is basically like another series, would that be accurate?

I listen to a hell of a lot of radio comedy, so the audiobook will probably suit me great of if it is like a series, i generally don't like audiobooks but if it is just like an extended series then i will definitely get it.

Started it last night. Didn't get very far before sleep consumed me (not the fault of the book!) but it was a good start. It's very hard not to read it as Partridge. :D

Would I pass muster? Would I cut the mustard? Would I pass the mustard?

:D, the next line is the bit that makes it genius imo, he not only says something ridiculous, he then analyzes it and realizes he has.

I think my favourite bit might be where he announces to his new colleagues that they have probably got "Tea aids" and despite him telling us that they didn't find it funny in the slightest, he still insists that it was a good and successful joke

I bought this for my dad for christmas and he loves it. Not sure if he's finished it. I might have to mention the audio book if its as good as people say.

Bought the enhanced audiobook version of this from Audible (great site) , loved it, hilarious and I found that having Coogan reading it himself as Partridge really added to it.
