I really want to get my book published, but my mate is taking too long!

Aye - i'd be through that in a few weeks, and thats if I was busy!
DVDBunny, I am going to write this, will you ACTUALLY reply to me for once instead of skipping over the replies you do not wish to acknowlege.
Why have you given your friend a copy, if it is the only copy - going to a publishers afterward saying "My friend Dave likes it, publish me!"
Get in touch with a publisher if you are actually serious - they will have teams of people that will help with these kind of things, to help reorder, critque and such - you sound such a fool saying "I printed it and gave a friend, now that means it will be published!"

From what I have heard in the past, if you want to get published you don't even submit the whole book as publishers cant be bothered to read through it, you have to give them like 1 or 2 pages that show your writing skills, and like a page or so on what the books about and general story and characters involved. Then they MAY come back to you if they think its worthy enough of it.
I've also heard that your better off securing a writing deal before even bothering to start writing a book.

Please send it to me asap, I happen to work in publishing.
If you send it directly to a publisher, they will place it directly in the bin, regardless of content. You need an agent. If you can find an agent who'll take you on, they will help you get your foot in the door with the publishers.
