I really want to overclock my CPU just need some help :)

hi mate,

sorry i didnt get back to you last night I got busy. I'll have a look when i get to work.

It saif fatal error rouding was 0.5, expected less then 4

I ran with just 2 x 1GB of memory (memtest no errors) then ran prime 95 for just over an hour with 2 x 1GB and there was no error temps were 54 c max with fans set a medium and my antec door shut (that probably didn't help). Shall i try another 10Mhz?

4 x 1GB of ram has been causing me a lot of problems i think i am going to sell them and buy 2 x 2GB sometime

If your case if designed for airflow, you should keep your side panels on, as this will create the intended air tunnel, that will effectively keep it cool.

Your ram is only rated for 800mhz so that is where the error is, take DRAM Frequency off Auto and choose one where its below, close, or just over 800mhz.

When you increase the FSB you also increase the DRAM speed as its linked together (basic explanation)

Sorry lynchy6789 i forgot to mention all the ram stuff that goes with it.

How you geting on anyway?

hi mate im running an e7400 and found that at higher multipliers the fsb has to be kept lower, but if you lower the multiplier to 8 or 9 you can increase the fsb. Saying that, I am currently running a 10x multiplier and 420mhz FSB to give 4.2ghz. If you leave the ram at 1:1 ratio that will slightly overclock it but not enough to make it unstable unless you have it at a really low voltage i.e under about 1.8v

My cpu voltage is currently 1.4v in the bios but because of vdroop cpuz registers the useable voltage as 1.376.

So basically, start off with 10 x 380 and work you way up from there slowly increasing the voltage. if you hit problems try lowering the multiplier and increase the fsb and continue the procedure. that should enable you to find optimum settings to get to 4ghz.

hmmm not too sure to be honest- i use 2 x 2 gb sticks. If you plan to use all 4 gig on a daily basis you might as well test with them in to find a stable setting. Doing it with just 2 sticks then putting the other 2 in after the overclock might lead to instability...

running at 380.99 x 10 = 3809.89 Mhz with VID 1.2500

Got all 4 in see how it goes in prime95. Just 4 x 1Gb dont seem to want to work in Bf2

Just going to run for about 10 mins prime 95 now temps at idle 39c (but on core temp they are always 39 even when at stock :S) will update on temp in Prime after 30 mins thanks for help so far :)

I put my 4 x 1GB ram in so wanted to make sure it was stable so i am just going to run Prime 95 till about 9pm about 4 hours 30min then i will up it too 3.8 then 4.0.

Currently at 3.607 (10 x 360) with core V 1.248 but i think that could possibly go lower. Being running prime just about an hour now temps are Max 54 atm there mostly 50/52.

Looking pretty good atm. What would maxium healthy temp on prime?

70 is normally the amount people like to stay below. if you are planning to go up again you might as well do it now. since an hour into stress test is pretty much stable. I normally do 30 min tests and go up until you get to where you are aiming then do a long stint.

Just on 3.7 GHZ @ 1.304 V

After some playing around with fans and running prime for just over an hour manged to get temps at maximum of 58/60 but majority time was 52/54 will push for 3.8/ 4 tomorrow:D
