I said in a previous thread that I thought that Apple store staff were annoying idiots, I unreservedly retract that statement. I bricked my iphone last night, upgrading my firmware (legit not 3.0). After several hours of trying to restore it I gave up (in a foul mood) and decided to visit the Apple Store on the way to work. I took it into the Brum Apple Store today and Dave at the genius bar restored my iphone then discovered it was my MBP new install of tiger --> upgraded to leopard that was actually corrupt and it had caused my iphone to brick. He reinstalled a fresh copy of leopard and all is fine now.
So once again thanks to the Genius Bar Staff and especially Dave, for putting up with idiots like me and getting my Apple hardware running again.

Yeah, the actually staff in the Apple store are really helpful and will normally sort out any problems. Dave replaced my broken iPhone headset for me no problem a few months ago. I know it's a pain to book a genius bar appointment (well not for me as I live 100 meters away from the Birmingham Apple store) but they will sort out most problems. They are pretty cool about jailbroken phones too, they won't refuse to fix them.
