I had probs with the windows instale on my first build today ...It was saying it was having a problem copying some files ... i kept getting blue screend at around the 50 % stage .

This happend about 8 times

I asked at a few forums ( including this one ) and the most common answer i got was maybe bad ram .

I removed on stick of the G Skill HZ and windows went in sweet as a nut .

I later tryed to boot up with the other stick back in...blue screen city :(

Took it back out ... not a problem all night .

What do you guys think ?

If i need to get it changed what do i have to do ?

Thanks in advance

Maddad

Hello again :).

Have you tried each stick individually?

Get memtest86+ from www.memtest.org (you'll want either the prebuilt cd iso or the prebuilt floppy and run it with both sticks in. You need about 8hours of it looping to be sure RAM is not faulty. Any errors = faulty RAM.

On the off chance, try setting the RAM voltage, Vdimm to 2.7v and see if it works. If they are faulty, I guess this is your chance to get a refund and get the ZX's or the OCZ in this week only as you originally intended :).

To get an RMA if faulty, you have to use the contact us section of the shop. Can't advise you much more than this as it strictly isn't allowed to be discussed in the forums.

I have a similar problem with mine, one stick clocks really well while the other won't do 250, already got my RMA number but i'm trying to put off sending it atm as I dont have a temp replacement:(

Hi smids :) ( again )

Thanks for that info , I will try all of the above .

Im realy happy with my new machine , Even with the 1 gig its lighning fast compaired to my old PC , That being the case im not toooo upset about the ram problem .

Every thing is running sweeet , The only problem i seen to have is shutting down windows , It seems to hang at the point just befor it actualy switches off , I have to do it manualy with the switch at the back on my psu ..Any tips ?

Hi tim

I have 2 brand new sticks of 512 DDR 3200 that i use if i have to send them back will thay be ok you think ?

Thanks again guys

Maddad

Hmm.....hanging before shutdown... I had that problem before and it was caused by a conflict in my PCI/PCI-e cards but tbh, can be many things.

Your two 512 sticks will be fine should you need to replace.

I think it might be an incompatibility somewhere, I just tried both sticks individually and they're both fine, as soon as you put both in I hit problems.

I reckon I'm just going to sell one of the sticks, the only game I play is CoD2 and that doesn't really need 2GB, my one stick is currently sat at 260 @ 2.6v

I really cannot be bothered with RMA's anymore.

Dont give up just like that tim

Maybe somone here can help you with the problem .

Anyone know what might be the problem here ...I would like to know just in case its the same problem i have

Thanks in advance

Think you do need to RMA the stick imo.

Is it just me or is COD2 the most testing game at moment - and with driver issues it's really hard to determine fault when a crash happens when playing the game.

Yes I've had my PC run 4/5hrs of P95 only for it to fall over after 20 mins of CoD2.

Sig changed, one of the sticks has gone, stable - crash free OC of 260 x 10 = me happy:)

Just an update on this:

Spoke to a very helpful chap on the phone today, as soon as I told him what RAM I had he knew what the problem was immediately, so the RAM is being returned even though 1GB is fine (and the amount is OK for the games I play) I shouldnt really have to accept not having what I payed for.

So thanks very much to OcUK for very good CS.

Just ordered 2GB Mushkin HP:)

this is why my sig says what it says..

my ram is pooped.. it only runs 166mhz on 2T.. any more and the computer locks up.

im going to send it back this week (RMA) but ive got loads of coursework to do this week so im running it on a thread at 166mhz 2T just to do me work.

although this memory was great for the first 3weeks, the last week has taken the joy from it really :p

For replacements, go to our contact page and either call us to raise an RMA or raise one on line via the webnotes link.

Hi dude's

Ok i have an update on the HZ ram ..

I tryed to get the 2 sticks to work together but had no joy :(

I then come across a post on another forum saying that the A8N32- DELUXE mobo has issues regarding acceping 2 sticks and the " fix " was to set up using one stick and get the timings and valtages set up and then put the other one in .

Smids i took your advice and looked at settting the " RAM voltage, Vdimm to 2.7v " but i could not find " Vdimm " only " DDR " ...I changed it from auto and set it to the lowest setting 2.6v and then put the other stick in and it worked ...but only untill i ran a program...It woulld then shut down my machine .

I noticed that after i got the 2 sticks to run my vid card temps went up to around 50 without anything running...Is that supposed to happen ?

I ran 3d mark and it shut down my machine after about 45 seconds ...I then ran americas army and it shut down after about 2 minz . i left the PC sitting idle and it stayed stable for about 20 minz .

I took the other stick out and reset the DDR voltage back to auto and the machine runs fine...but only with 1 gig .

I have a feeling that i can get this to work but i just need to set the mobo up to accept the both sticks ...smids i need your help :D

I have downloaded CPU -Z and had a look at my settings... but to be hones i would not know what was right and what was wrong .... In the Memory tabb in the channels box it says single ... should that not say dual ?

I can take some screen shots if that would help .

Smids can you help me ?

Allso has anyone else got a A8N32- DELUXE that has had this problem ? ..how did you fix it ?

Thanks guy's and any help ( no matter how small ) would be appriciated ;)

Maddad 1 gig :(

EDIT : I just read the 2 above comment ( posted while i was typing this post ) and now im not sure what to do

Return tbh. G.skill have accepted a fault and the problem you describe is exactly what has been suffered by many others i.e. dual channel/running 2 sticks causes crashes. Thanks Andy for updating us :).

Ok smids thanks mate .

I have a RMa number and i will send them back , hope the next lot are better.

One good thing to come out of it all is i have been in and out of the Bios and had a good look around ...I would never have went near it befor :D .

I understand it a bit more and it has made me less afraid of maybe looking in to overclocing

Thanks again smids

Maddad << playing BF2 With all the fluff on and only 1 gig :D

UPDATE :

Hi ,

Ok just a little update on the HZ ram

I got the new sticks this morning ( thanks ocuk ) and give them a try together but thay never worked

But the last few days i have been scooting round a load of forums and i found somone who had the same set up as me and the same issue with the ram .

He told me what timming's to set in the bios that worked for him , After much lip chewing and head scraching i managed to find the right place to change the settings .

I set it as follows 3-8-4-4 and then put the second stick of ram in , Booted up and weeeee it worked , I did a quick 3Dmark to see if it stayed stable and it was fine , I then ran BF2 with all the settings turned right up and it was awsome .

At the moment its all running good , I set up my wireless network and im connecting at 48mbps ( need to get that better :D ) and all is sweet in the maddad house .

Here is a pic of some of my settings and temps , If you can have a look at it and see if anything needs changing or if anything is wrong i would appriciate it .

Thanks for all your help

Ah good, you have it working at stock timings. Make sure you memtest though - the new set might not be from the dodgy batch, but they can still be faulty...

EDIT: Hang on, stock timings at what frequency? If they run 3-4-4-8 1T @ 200mhz only, then they are no better than GeiL value but significantly more expensive. Make sure that they can run at the rated 250mhz 3-4-4-8 1T with 2.7v.

Vcore is high. Stock volts is 1.30v for an X2 4400+. Mine does 2600mhz with 1.36v (excellent clocker) so you might eve get more out of it with that vcore. Lower the vcore (should lower temps) and run some stability testing.

EDIT: How is your RAM running faster than your FSB?! Are you using the different dividers?
