I think it's dying

Weird thing has started happening this evening every so often I keep hearing one of my hard drives makes quite a loud clunking noise and I can hear it power down then spin back up.... Ive done the smart analasys (SP) But it doesnt come up with anything wrong... Any ideas?

several of my hard drives do this, its a power saving feature on mine.

have you tryed an error checking software? i use HDtune

Have you checked your Operating System, Power Options to make sure you hard drives are not set to power down at a certain time???

if ur in vista/7 it may just be the power saving setting powering ur idle drive down after 20minutes.. i personally hate it

so i disable that, u can do it from control panel/power settings or something and then go into the advanced options on a power scheme
