I think I've been discriminated against? Have I?

OP, did you declare a disability when you filled in the application form? It's a tick box where it guarantees you an interview and so they'd know that you had a disability but not necessarily which one it is. If you didn't tick that box, then the interview panel won't have known that you're disabled.

As for Access to Work, I'm not sure if it's as much as up to £50K like one poster mentioned. I think it was more like £5K-£7K but I was able to apply for it on 3 separate occasions. It was once for each workplace I've worked at and the grant would reset back to £5K/£7K each time because it was treated as a new application each time. The help I got was a combination of hardware/software for sight and hearing impairment including radio aids and some one-to-one tuition on problem solving from a sight/hearing loss point of view.

Access to Work Grant How Much are the Payments?
The Access to Work payments get reviewed annually. They also get capped if the claim took place after the 1st of October 2015.

Check the list below for the current ceiling cap and maximum annual award limit (e.g. twice the national average salary):

  • £62,900 Upper Limit: 1st of April 2021 to 31st of March 2022.
  • £60,700 Upper Limit: 1st of April 2020 to 31st of March 2021.
  • £59,200 Upper Limit: 1st of April 2019 to 31st of March 2020.
  • £57,200 Upper Limit: 1st of April 2018 to 31st of March 2019.
