Hi,
I have a Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition with a ASUS PK5 MB.

I just downloaded CPU-Z and it tell me that my core is running at 268.3 x 6 which is 1603.98 MHz.

How do I get it to run at the standard 2.4Ghz?

Thanks in advance

Paulh

You have speed step enable, run a programme and the multiplier will rise to 9.
If you want to disable go into the BIOS and disable C1E & EIST.

Sorry Rob can I just ask,

I have located the C1E in the Bios under CPU configuration but I can not see EIST.

What is EIST - is it the intet Speedstep thing?

Thanks

Paulh

It depends on what board you have it might be labled different, try disabling C1E if you don't have EIST have a look for anything that states power saving or cpu features.

Also if your running Vista go into control panel and check power options.

Edit: seen your reply above, enjoy :)

Rob :)

when you use a program it will push the multi to 9 and therefore be at 2.4ghz, if you overclock it to whatever FSB it will change between 6 and 9 so 3ghz overclock will be 2ghz idle, etc...

prob a good idea to leave this on because it keeps temperatures lower
