I thought i'd better make one of these threads...

It's a Leon FR 2.0TDI (170ps). 56 plate.

No extras at the moment, also it's done 50K in just over 2 years but i'd rather that than 5K.

Got it for £10K, it's been in for a service and cambelt change today so it'll be all fresh. Has full SEAT service history, and I got the year's tax and full tank of fuel thrown in as well.

Nice car and I'm sure you'll love it but sounds a bit much too me. I know I own a Fiat and they depreciate like anything but mine was purchased a year ago, is 6 months newer than yours, has lots of extras and had done 11k, the Leon and Bravo look pretty much the same and the 1.9 150bhp derv is no more than the petrol in my car, also had a FFSH and that was £2k less

Just not sure if it's really worth the extra money, still none the less nice purchase and you could have done a lot worse!

Each to their own I guess, I just can't get on with the interior of the Mk2 Leon, it's pretty low rent in my opinion.

it looks ugly from that angle - but i do like them from the back, and again, i have to agree with Olly and Fox - the interiors let them down a lot.

However - it's your choice and i'm sure you'll enjoy it :)

I have to admit, interiors don't bother me. If they did, i'd have hung myself from driving around in a Fabia for 18 months. :p

As long as it's screwed together well and is semi-functional, i'm not fussed. :)

I quite like these from the outside but the interior bothers me too. Not the quality, dont really have any issues there, just the style of it. I'm the opposite to you, interiors are way more important than exterior looks - thats where I spend all my time! Still, glad you're finally sorted.

This has to be the longest time to buy a car ever......well I may take longer to buy my next car, but thats partly because I've been keeping an eye out for a few weeks for a car that Fox told me yesterday doesnt actually exist :D

I'd forget the Skoda, they've all started having massive CAN problems, usually meaning the windows open at random, replacing the ECU causing the problem only seems to be a temporary cure. Looks very much like they are going to loose the good reputation that they have managed to build so rapidly.

Not seen many reports of the VWs and SEATs doing the same, but some models do use the same system. One theory is the ECU's in the Skodas are made elsewhere to lower standards.

From using it today, I actually quite like the interior. Everythings just so simple about it. Then again, going from a Fabia to anything is going to be a jump, but I certainly didn't notice anything special about the 120d (Sport or M), or the A3 (but i'm going to ignore that as it was an SE).

And yes, it did take ages. It wasn't out of choice - I saw an opportunity to be a good samaritan to a family member and I went for it, meant I had to put the car on hold for a few months. :o

To me the issue with the Mk 2 Leon is the quality of the interior, not the style - cheap, scratchy hard plastics everywhere, but it's not a bad car by any means

Okay. *draws breath*

I'm picking this up tomorrow.

*obligatory "Yes Fox, I know it's a hatchback"*

I may have missed it but why did you change your mind about the Golf GT MkV 1.4 TSi? Also you said you preferred driving the petrols? I test drove a MkV TSi 170 before I bought the MkVI version and I thought it was a real pleasure. Great engine and comfortable to drive.

However I'm sure the Leon will suit your needs, if you like driving ugly dervs in a girly colour :p.

Can you get a Mk5 Golf 1.4 TSI for £10k?

If you can, why would you chose one over a GTI?

Just about I reckon - can't check Autotrader etc. at the moment as they're blocked at work.

Regarding the GTi - OP stated that he couldn't afford the insurance on a GTi and they barely do 30mpg, which was another factor stated by OP.
