You know... For the last few years I have not been 100% in the head. I know this and I can cope just fine with it, but in the last 2 months I have taken it up a gear and I can honestly say that I truly am a plonker of the highest order.
I will give you 2 great examples.
1:
Mate has a PC, its a fairly good one, Hex core AMD 3.2Ghz, Gigabyte 990AX Mobo, 4GB RAM, 500w Corsair PSU, Xigamatek case but the HDs are duff and no matter what, after a few minutes of a fresh install, it kills itself.
I said that Id like the Mobo for my 8120 cos I had ju8st bought a 970 for it a few days back.
Anyway, after a while, he said would I swap his setup for one of mine.
I told him he can have my eldest sons PC. It was a Q9450 setup but it runs like a charm. It was the one in the far corner on the right hand side.
Now, I recently had an accident and I am unable to go to the LAN room, being stuck downstairs and so after some messing about, he came down and I realised a few things...
1 - The case is my Lian Li
2 - The CPU Cooler is my Titan Vanessa
3 - The C: is a 60GB SSD
4 - The GFX is an nVidia 260
So, I remembered it was a bit better than I thought, but I said its ok.
I was gutted.
Anyway a few days later, my mate phoned up as he could not put Windows 7 onto it. After some more questions it hit me... Its got 2x60GB SSDs as I was experimenting with RAID on that before my accident, plus its got a 2GB Brand new HD, plus its got the Q9650 and 8GB RAM FFS!
I was close to devastated.
---
Recently, I also gave another mate a Hexcore 2.6 CPU and Mobo and some RAM to get him started, only to realise that the RAM I let him have was a pair of HyperX that I have only just bought from the MM here less than a week previous, plus the RAM he already ha is DDR3 anyway so he does not actually need the RAM at all!
Then, to top things off, I gave another friend an old laptop only to remember that I put in a 120GB SSD and 4GB DDR2 ( yes 2 ) from my wifes Samsung, and now I have to buy those again cos my mate sold off the Laptop!!!!
My life is a long line of prat and plonk
