I usually go for Nvidia...however

I see the AMD spend thrifts are out in force.

For what you want, on your original budget a 2nd hand i5 4670K @ £100-£125 or less if your lucky is your best bet and a lot less hassle.

With Ryzen not only would you need need a new Mobo, but ram and a new PSU to run it. (i7 would probably be too much with an RX4/580 on the CX430)
Costs keep mounting up and your not going to get much more performance with Ryzen on the games you mentioned. (If any at all)

And a RX 480 8Gb 8000Mz £210

Main reason for 480 over 580 is you PSU will be getting close it it's limit with a reasonable margin. It could run an RX 580, but certainly a lot closer to it's maximum output.
I could just buy a new PSU for the 580, I don't mind that too much about the money possibly. But is there a massive difference between 480 and 580 with performance x price? Would you recommend? Kinda interested in the Ryzen cpu just so i can overclock for the first time, sounds fun!

Less than 10% between the 480 and 580.

The CX430 probably would run a RX480 although a better PSU would be nice,as my mini-ITX system with a Xeon E3 1230 V2/Core i7 3770,a few drives and a GTX1080 FE was lucky to see 280W at the wall,and the pre-overclocked RX470 4GB I tried was well under 250W at the wall.

You might be able to pick up a GTX 980ti for 250, I've seen a couple sell for around that price on Gumtree and Shpock otherwise get two r9 290's (you can pick them up for less than 100 quid and they are great for 1080p gaming).

This looks interesting! deffo different since i last built one. Although i've never overclocked anything before, and was too scared. Is it that difficult?

It's incredibly difficult, I had to go into the bios and physically press 3 and then 9 to then I had to go a save and exit to get a 3.9Ghz overclock

:p

Alright guys, i think i've caved and may just impulsively just build a new rig from scratch.
Shoot me a a mob and PSu that'll handle the rx580 and a ryzen, not sure which ryzen cores to get to oc. I'll just be gaming/editing/mixing on ze decks. with 1 SSD and 2 HDDS' running.

If you stick with the g-sync monitor I'd recommend the GTX 1070. New or 2nd hand. OC has one from £339.

Assuming you CX430 is the +12 V 384 W version this will do the job, as the GTX 1070 used less power than then RX 580.
And just upgrade the CPU i5 or i7 that Pasty mentioned, though if you were planning on overclocking a new decent PSU 550-650W would be ideal.

Certainly a better use of you cash for gaming use. The Ryzen option with a weaker card only makes sense if you priority is encoding.

What exactly do you mean by encoding?

Encoding video or other heavy CPU load tasks that can use 8 cores.
Gsync is worth having.
Second hand 980ti or 1070 would be my choice.

Or sell the screen and get a Freesync one, may be cheaper.
not sure its worth right now, it has 1 small scratch on it, but it doesnt affect it in any way, everything else is fine. I bought it for 360 2 years ago

I seem to read more negative comments than ever where multi-GPU is concerned, so personally, I'd put that idea at the back of the queue. :)

A well priced GTX980Ti isn't a bad idea, though.
