i want a console

get the ps3 otherwise u spend a fortune tryin to get the ring of death fixed on the 360

You get a lot of BR drive fails on PS3, just as many, if not more than none-3RRoD failures on Xbox360 and you have 3 years on 3RRoD, otherwise both are covered by the same 12 month system.

Id have to say Ive seen a lot more single reds, dvd errors and scratched disks than BR drives issues tbh, suppose it has been out longer though, but from what i can recall there was bad batch of PS3s a while back, but not being able to have a 360 sitting vertical is a pretty big issue in its self and always annoys me!

Not being vertical is annoying for sure.
However, there was a bad batch of Xbox360's too, it was a pretty big batch, but the new ones are pretty much as good as gold, whereas the PS3 did it the other way around (solid start, not so solid now).

Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted: Drakes Fortune [Playstation 3]
Or
Gears of War, Halo 3, Project Gotham Racing 3 & 4, Dead Rising, Rock Band & Mass Effect. [Xbox360]

Which of those lists interest you more? Go for that one.

No Bioshock or The Darkness? Are you sure that's you Nokkon? :p

My girlfriends owned a megadrive for like 10-15 years, best thing ever! (super smash tv isrealyl good for the violence). Otherwise get a dreamcast, or gamecube! both are pretty cheap and have mountains of amazing games (soul calibur on the dreamcast is one of the best things ever invented).

I faced this same decision when I was looking to buy one. After a while messing with mates machines I finally went for a PS3 and I still believe that I made the right choice. :)

I had a 360 first, had it for a while then sold it, bought a Ps3, i have another 360 now back in the house. My choice? Would be the PS3, why? Blu-ray for one, built in wi-fi and the games are finally improving. The 360 however has an exceptional online service in Xbox live, which the PS3 lacks (although will catch up with the recent addition of ingame messaging and soon to come "Home"), of course the 360 also has a bigger games library but with lots of mouth watering titles expected from both ends its really hard to choose between the two. I also prefer the 360 controller to the Playstations, despite having played PSX and PS2.

I know LOTs of people who have had their 360's fail although service is always impeccable and they are soon back gaming in no time (i waited a week when mines went capoot).

Your not going to be really disappointed with whatever one you get, because they will both play games and from time to time you will say oh I wish my console had that.

Only way to be happy is to buy all known consoles and be done with it.

Then you have the issue of which platform to get x game on. So buy it for all!

Job's a good'un

I still think 360 has the edge, but it's now getting to the point where it's arguably the back catalogue rather than future games that makes it the better choice.

Buy all 3

/thread

On a serious note, I think whatever you but you wont regret it, all 3 are awesome consoles. Look what you want from a console (Online, Multiplayer, Serious Games, Less Serious etc). I have an Xbox 360 because my friends did, that way i can play online with them and thats the only reason i got one. I admit i want a PS3 + Wii too though!

RROD is covered by a 3 year warranty free of charge, its the PS3 laser failure you should be scared of.

If you get a PS3 with a dodgy laser it will die within the first few weeks/months so you're covered by warranty.

Whereas 360 has far more faults that can develop over time than just the RROD (which is the only thing covered by extended warranty).
