I want a Linux phone - what are my options?

Take a look at Replicant its a GNU/Free Software Foundation version of Android (its logo is a red Android with roller skates).

I don't know how far along it is, and it probably won't play mp3s or anything else with any non-Free software attached.

And you want this phone on a contract? Have you actually looked at the contract providers in the UK? You trust these more than the 3 major players in the mobile OS sector?

I had a friend an acquaintance like you once, he was so obsessed with everything he used/owned being as free and open-source as possible, and then went psycho at anyone who dared use a product by an established company with their own OS. He was unbearable.

Sounds like you might get along
