I want a Plasma TV again!

Today scored another TV!! This time a P50GT50B for well under £200

Can't believe some people have no idea what their stuff is worth. The GT50 absolutely blew my GT30 out of the water in terms or image quality and the motion, but at the same time it made me sad that they don't make tv's like this anymore. I planned on storing away the 50" until I buy a bigger house next year, but when my mate saw it and offered me double what I payed was bit of a no brainer

where did you buy it?

gumtree?

i have that tv and i'd never sell it tbh. for what I'd get which is a lot more than £200 probably at least double. there is nothing that will match it for quality.

you should have stored it

I know mate even the Mrs said I should have stored it:(:( yeh a gumtree special. The guy bought a new Samsung LED for £700 said he preferred it lol

I'll keep hunting for a GT60 anyway

How long do they last ? As long as any other tv. Mines > 7 years old now. Black level's raised a bit but it still puts in a great picture. Honestly i think i'm going to run the thing in to the ground before i replace it lol

Hooked up my new 60' Plasma today. It's a pain to set it up but I think I'm close to getting the picture near enough how I want it. As my living room have quite a bit of light, its got more reflection than my 4K LED, but now during night hours, the picture quality really is superb. I defintely prefer it over my LED. Even the gf with no interest in these things remarked on how much better it looks than our LED.

Not bad for just over £370 2nd hand. Looking for another 60' to set up in my man cave.

How long do Plasma's last on average ?
My 43" pioneer 436xde plasma is almost 10 years old and done over 30,000 hours and is still working great..;)

My 50" pioneer 508xd Kuro plasma is about 8 or 9 years old and has only done just over 4K hours but is still working great..:)

The 43" is in the living room and the 50" is in the bedroom..;)

Ditto, my 43" one too is still running a dream. Must be nearly 11 years old. Cost me a fortune at the time but its one hell of a piece of hardware.

one of the reasons I bought my ZT over a VT was because of a touted better anti-glare filter - as our living room is often pretty bright (near south facing)

the ZT and VT used the same filter iirc.

the only difference I believe was the difference in the gap between the panel and the glass front. on the ZT it was as close as you can get it practically no gap. whereas on the VT there was a very slight gap.

that was the main difference anyway. the gap between the panel and the glass.

They do not.

Yes they do

Black Level
Both Panasonic’s TX-P42ST60 and TX-P50GT60 plasmas managed an incredibly deep black of just 0.005 cd/m2 (measured using a freshly black-calibrated Klein K-10 colorimeter with many thousands of averaged readings). We were curious to see how the higher-up TX-P55VT65 would perform, since it is rated as having “Infinite Black Ultra” rather than the step-down models’ “Infinite Black Pro”. Another area of the spec sheet refers to the VT65/VT60′s filter separately, mentioning that it shares the “High Contrast Filter Pro” alongside the ZT65/ZT60, with “High Contrast Filter” (no “Pro”) being the reserve of the ST60 and GT60.

in fact most people opted to buy the VT65 as it was 5" bigger and £1000 cheaper.

it offered way better value for money. the difference in PQ was tiny too iirc and some even preferred the VT65.
