Not sure if this is the right forum but anyway I am looking to build myself a digital clock with big numerals that I can see at night when I am not wearing my glasses.
Yes I can buy one but they seem to be expensive and I wondered if I might be able to put something together using a Raspberry Pi and a smallish monitor.
I have always wanted to play with a PI but could not think of anything to do with it. But screwing up my eyes to see the time at night has given me this idea.

If I can do what I want where do I begin apart from getting the Pi and monitor?

That's one I started in 2011/12, based on Nick's Pong Clock (there's a blog somewhere) with heavily modified code. It runs on an ATmega 328p bare microcontroller or Arduino with a separate timing chip and two LED matrix displays. May even get round to finishing it one day :p

Decided to go the simple route and get a cheapo tablet, in this case a Nook colour, installed a big digital clock and Stay alive to keep the screen on, hopefully i will see this at night when not wearing my specs.

nixie clocks are amazing, shame there doesn't seem to be any massive nixie tubes available. Something like 6" would be cool for the lounge.
anyone know of anything similar and massive?

also a shame e-ink clocks aren't a thing yet as far as i can see, one for he bedroom would be great no noise at all and no light like other digital clocks.

Why does the time stamp on the photo not match the time shown on the clock?!
