I am in the process of returning one I just bought (from another etailer) because of some horrific flicker at 95 Hz and black screen at 100Hz.

Having read around its seems its a bit of a lottery, but apparently most stock that is newer is better.

The one I bought was manufactured in nov, but people have had jan stock from other places.

What I want to know is

* What date is the stock at overclockers
* Could someone test the monitor before delivery? (I suspect not)
* Where would I stand if the monitor couldn't do 95 or 100hz in terms of a return

Its a lot of money £900 and I'm happy to pay if the monitor is without issue but having JUST got fingers burnt on a sub-par unit, I want to ensure there is as little risk as possible.

* What date is the stock at overclockers - ASK THEM NOT USE
* Could someone test the monitor before delivery? - NOPE
* Where would I stand if the monitor couldn't do 95 or 100hz in terms of a return - IF IT CANT DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE BOX YOU CAN ALWAYS RETURN.

You'll be better off posting this on the customer service section or using the webnote system to send it direct to OCUK. (this is the general forum so staff don't always check and reply to every thread)

OCUK don't do free returns though so unless its properly faulty you'll have to pay the return postage.

This was directed to to them, not end users :)

It doesn't say ANYTHING about 100Hz on the box.

Thanks will do that. I've seen a few of them on here so thought I'd post the question here.

You're better off posting in the Customer Services section, you won't get an answer on here

That doesn't matter. OCUK have this monitor for sale with its refresh rate listed as 100hz. If it doesn't achieve that, you can return, and they must cover the cost of that return. Simple. This is watertight based on sales of goods act, trade descriptions and consumer regulations, so don't let anyone tell you any different, least of all a retailer themselves. Know your rights.

Acer sell it with 'UP TO 100hz' Some people's won't run at 100hz but are fine at 95hz. Others like mine ran straight at 100 out of box.

Doesn't matter what Acer say... they're not selling it. They could say 10hz or 200hz, doesn't matter... you are purchasing the monitor from OCUK and THEY are responsible for how it is described at the point of sale, i.e their website. They make no mention of 'up to' or offer any caveats or conditions where in which 100hz would not be seen as the fully expected refresh rate upon purchase. As it stands, you are 100% within your rights to return the monitor without charge if it does not reach this speed. This is simple fact, legally speaking anyway. Personally, I'd probably keep it at 95hz if it was an otherwise perfect panel, but I'm just talking about a customers rights if they're not happy with 95hz and wonder what they can do about it.

OCUK already do that, I don't see why your making this a huge deal?

I'm not meaning to, just addressing comments about the box not saying 100hz and whatever Acer say. OCUK are solid and I've not heard of any issues, so it's all good I'm sure. Just clarifying for any doubters or people concerned about buying for this reason. :)

Ocuk accept returns, but usually they will try to lump the end user with the return postage - Legend is absolutely right though, in the case of the 100hz thing, OCUK are advertising it as 100hz, so if it wont do 100hz then it is "not as described", or faulty, so they should cover the return costs

Do people consider it a problem as 95hz? Mine does 95hz but not returning it just for that. Would you notice it anyway?

You probably wouldn't notice, but I can certainly understand how it would bother some people when they think they've paid for 100hz but haven't got it... it's the principle. There may even be the sense that the monitor is indeed faulty if it's buzzing above 95hz. Not a good thing. Plus there's also a good chance it would affect resell value, which again is understandable.

My one (that i am returning to a different e-tailer) wouldn't even do 95 reliably.

If its advertised as 100Hz then I feel happy about placing an order with overclockers. I cant run it at lower as i'm very OCD about it and its not a matter of simply living with it. There are cheaper monitors with the same panel that that are fixed 60Hz if its a matter of saving money. Paying more you expect the monitor to be perfect.

would feel happy about buying a cooker and then finding half the hob doesn't work or the oven runs cold?.

I did fire off a webnote, nothing from overclockers staff yet :(

@Legend, thanks for posting.

Also what some people dont realise is that dropping 1K on a monitor is a HUGE investment and proposition for some people. Its relative to your disposable income and for some people its hard to buy and to get a monitor that doesn't work as advertised its a crushing experience.

given the answers have been posted now and that we already have a massive long thread about this monitor elsewhere, i will close this thread
