Apologies, I didn't answer your question.

Personally I tend to steer towards WD. But I own multiple drives from both manufacturers.

In day to day usage, you wouldn't notice a differentd between them.

Once drive speeds went north of 100MB/s, itsi been difficult to tell them apart outside of benchmarks.

The bottom line is, never trust your data to a single drive.

Backups are vital :)
 
Have you considered a Western Digital Gold 6TB? I say this because they are currently selling cheaper then the 6TB WD Black. The Gold also has NoTouch Ramp Load making them more reliable, and i'm pretty certain the Black does not have this.

I use 2 Western Digital 2TB Golds on my resent built and for HDD's best I've ever had, one is even a boot drive and it's surprisingly quiet.

This is the 2TB version of the Gold, but if the 6TB is anything similar. Still far behind SSD's but extremely fast speed for a HDD.

The Seagate Barracuda PRO comes with 2 year data recovery protection as standard whereas the WD drive does not. Seagate are trying to rebuild their reputation so i'd give that a try instead of WD. Do you need to backup all 6TB also? Maybe consider backing up onto a cheaper basic 2TB drive your most important data to save on money.
