I am begging you all to help me i am at my whits end with computers i never thought i would say that.

Right i have bought two computers off OcUK recently the first below.

I7 2.66ghz
Gigabyte EX58-UD3R
6GB OCZ Gold Triple Channel
1TB Samsung Spinpoint
ATI 4870 X2
Corsair 650w

The second this spec.

E5200 2.5ghz
MSI G31 M3-F
4gb OCUK Value Ram
1TB Samsung Spinpoint
ATI 4770
OCZ Modstream 600w

Right now i am having the exact same problem with both setup's and that is that windows vista 64bit just freezes randomly, it will just hang no BSOD or anything they just hang and you cant move the mouse or keyboard or anything.

I am almost certain that it is the HDD (Samsung 1TB F1) causing the problem as it is the only item to appear in both and reading forums else where suggest that this is a common issue.

Something to do with command queing. I need to know how to disable it or sort this problem out i am at a whits end and sick and tired of coming home and trying to troubleshoot two systems and baring in mind this has been going on since early june.

Please help guys anyone with samsung experiances good and bad i need your help especially.

Its differcult to run anything everything i try seems to not be compatable with 64bit chipset or i dont have time to run anything before it crashes.

Memory is not an issue, on the first rig i RMA'd CPU, MOBO, & RAM for testing and everything came back fine.

Memory works fine on the other computer too.

I know it is a setting or something to do with the hardrives, it just must be.

Ahhh yer forgot to say that the thing runs stable as you like in safe mode.

So i could get some information from there, the problem is i dont think it gives detailed information because the system just freezes and there is no activity.

Why would they both work in safe mode and not on a normal boot?

Bios and driver setups for both are the most up to date.

Samsung do have a utility but it doesnt work with 64bit system which is so rubbish!

The bit i am struggling to understand is what are the chances of having two identical problems on two completely different machines yet there is a common fix for it considering how popular the F1 drive is you would have thought this would have been solved.

But i will get a list of the errors being caused.

Yer me too thats why i dont think the drive is faulty purely that it doesnt like a setting/update/software on the computer itself which applies itself after booting into normal mode.

Yer i havnt got a floppy drive which is a right bummer.

From what I can see quite a few of those error logs show errors when it tries to access/use the service and sometimes driver for network/internet related type things, TCP/IP etc... are you using the built in ethernet ports mate? or separate pci cards? If its locking up when using Windows Update, then maybe its all linked to a problem with the network card/port/driver/services?

Have you tried using 32bit Vista on one of them to see whether it is maybe something 64bit related?

Just a few thoughts!

They are both using 3rd party wireless cards.

Don't know whether anyone know of anything but i am still having this problem and it is driving me up the wall.

I have got to the point where i absolutely hate Vista 64bit and i would never recomend it to my worst enemy!

On the I7 machine i installed the Windows 7 release candidate and it sorted it out.

But time is up for that now regarding the other machine and i am about to pull my hair out!

It freezes within 3 minutes of loading up the machine now mouse goes, screen goes everything locks up. No error report it ever recorded just an unexpected shutdown. I know it is something to do with the security centre as im sure it freezes when checking for updates automatically. Ive tried turning them off and shutting down but it freezes when it is shutting down.

I just dont know what to do there must be a fix for this somewhere!
