Will my computer be good enough to run 24/7 ?

I have it at stock at the moment which is 3.5. With a a50 corsair air cooler.

I have excellent cooling in case and my load temps are anything from 40 - 50c depending on room temp.

Also, if my pc is good enough. Could someonr be kind enough to point Me in the right direction as to get started please, I have read that guide, but would still like some help with settings/preferences aswell so I get it right.

Any help would be great :)

So long as your computer is stable, it can fold. Be aware of potential power costs as 24/7 folding can eat a far amount of power. Can you identify the cpu and gpu?

I'm not fussed about power or cost usage, it's doing somthing for s good cause that's wanting me Todo it.

What do you mean identify lol. If you mean do I know what cpu and gpu I have then yes I can :D

Amd fx6300 3.5 stock settings.
Radeon hd5770 1gb oc, only by about 5% (don't know why really lol).

My computer is stable.

Hope that helps

have you installed the folding client yet? you'll need to get your self a passkey for bouns points for the cpu work you do, and make sure you enter team number as 10.

i'd be tempted to run just cpu folding, gpu will rob the cpu of points & save you electricity

get a passkey here

http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

if you install the folding client then open it up you will see a button , configuration, click it.

from there it opens another window, in here this is all your user settings , you will see a tab called identity. Click on this and then enter username along with team number 10 and the passkey you set up, it will look like this

EDIT:

My Temps are good, its currently at 39c, using all 3.5ghz.

Cheers, sorry for the 20 questions :D

you sure are folding :)

it takes 10 work units until you start getting bonus points, these add huge increases to your score

3.7 hours is just what that work unit will take on your cpu, different pcs will go either down or up in time, you get some work units saying 12+ hours to complete, don't worry, just keep an eye it doesn't crash and you'll fly throw the work units :D

that temp for cpu is VERY LOW for a cpu folding on 6? cores :o

sweet :D, thank you for your help :)

i feel better inside allready :D

EDIT:

just noticed..

that temp for cpu is VERY LOW for a cpu folding on 4? cores

What do you mean on 4 cores ?, i have 6 :D, unless its only using 4 :(

but it cant be, it must be using 6, because on coretemp its showing all cores working ?

but i do have very good cooling in my case, and the rom temp here is only about 25c or so.

will see what happns tonight when i put it on full :)

Hiya JohnnyP :) power doesn't seem to worry me either but then I don't have a farm to run!
Enjoy your folding but watch out for the signs of addiction, like checking stats all the time on your phone and buying hardware soley based on it's ability to crunch:eek:
If you do get that far then there are plenty of sufferers here to keep you company!

Hello :D, it's funny you say that because I was just about to post asking if there is a android app for keep an eye on the folding and stats, so I can check it well I'm at work :D.

I don't think I will be buying more hardware just yet...lol yet!. As I left it on full last night and when I got up this morning my coretemps was only at 29c and socket was 31.

But my gpu was at 51c lol, so I might upgrade that soon :D
