Hi hi, i've just got a new pc but the graphics card, GT120, isn't too good and i can see this when trying to play games like Far cry 2.

Here it is first of all:

Intel® Core 2 Quad Q8200 (2.33GHz, 4MB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
4GB DDR2 memory
1GB NVIDIA® GeForce GT120 graphics

And inside the case is:

AC input 220-230V-.2 A.50Hz
DC OUTPUT: +3.3V--- 17.)A(ORG). +5V --- 18.OA(RED). +12V1 --- 8.OA(YEL)
+5Vsb --- 2.OA(PURP).-12V --- 0.3A(BLUE). +12V2 --- 14.OA(YEL/BLK)
P.G. SIGNAL (GRAY). GROUND (BLACK)
(+3.3V & +5V = 115W Max). Total output continuous shall not exceed 250watts

Anywho, i'm thinking of buying a better card but i have no idea which one, nor do i know how to install it (Although i did replace my older pcs graphics card myself with a x1950 PRO) I've heard the HD4850 is good.

My price range is £70-£150

And also, how would i go about installing it? I want to make sure i don't break my pc accidentally. Just information like how to uninstall my current graphics card/drivers, etc etc

Thank you :)

What resolution do you play at ? 4850/GTX 260/4890 depending exactly how much you spend.

GTX260 is probably the best to get

a 4850 would be plenty then. A GTX 260 if you want to make it last longer and/or might buy a bigger monitor.

bit curious off topic 120 gt renamed 9600 ?

did see that you 250 w psu. forget about cards that have two 6 pin connectors im not sure it even would handle 4850

Will a generic sounding 250W PSU be up to it? I know 4850's aren't particularly power hungry but if this machine is a prebuilt off the shelf kind of thing, they don't leave much room to spare.

You need a better PSU before upgrading to any better performing cards. Your PSU just won't be able to cut it.
And anyway, for the graphics card i would recommend the 4870 512mb that's selling for about £115 on here.
Here's the link, but it's currently out of stock.

Edit: This is the top of your budget (or a bit over), but i'd recommend getting these two.

and either

well its not worth to buy systems from street retailers as its bit overpriced.

your cpu is good. u only need better power supply and graphics card and maybe in future bigger monitor.

edit: u need around 130 ~ 150 £ to buy good around 500 w psu and 4850 and u have your self great gaming rig

Thanks, how would i go about getting a new PSU? and reccomendations? I'm checking how to install a new PSU, seems simple enough, think i can do it myself? I'm not sure how much they are.

Yeah it's easy enough as long as you're careful.

If you can post up the full machine specs perhaps we can help further i.e.

Machine Brand:
Motherboard brand and model:
RAM brand/speed etc:
CPU model/speed:
PSU brand/power rating:
GFX model:

And anything else you have in there worth mentioning. I know you've posted a lot of this already but it'd be easier to clarify what exactly you've got in there.
