I want to upgrade my hardware on a budget.

Ok so, my motherboard at the moment is a H61M-P25. I don't really *need* a new motherboard do I as I don't plan on overclocking? I could just look for an i5 2500 and run it along side a better graphics card than my GTX 560Ti?

Could anyone comment on my above question please? I'm thinking of saving a bit of cash by not purchasing a new motherboard right away, and I could just throw an i5 2500 or something better in and then replace my GTX 560Ti with something better.

Yes you could. Your board takes any of the 1155 cpu's including Xeons. Full cpu support list and required bios revision here. As you say you will not be overclocking (never ever?) a Xeon would be well worth a look if you can find one cheap enough.

A word of caution; In your opening post you say you have an i3 530 which was 1156 socket, yet you're saying the motherboard is 1155 socket? The two aren't interchangeable so something isn't right

EDIT - Just seen you're not using the old motherboard from the opening post.
