It looks an amazing place. I just work in a boring, grown ups building.

I don't there's a reason it's so well stocked, they never want you to leave the building/stop working!

Yep. Make a place great to work and you attract the best people who are happy to go above and beyond.

Have you applied then OP?

Not sure that is completely true, one of the founders is supposed to be keen on promoting a healthy work/life balance - they've got generous maternity/paternity packages by US standards etc.. Seem more like it is there to make the employee's lives easier - given that they're paid a lot of money and contribute to projects that make a lot of money then saving them time/hassle with mundane things like doing the laundry, getting lunch etc.. or just generally trying to have a nicer environment would be a good investment.

You'd be happy to work in a wacky university campus? Peter Pan might want a word with you. :p Points for the dress code though.

So you think the company is doing it for the best interests of their employees? And solely this?

No and that isn't what I said either. It is in their interests that employees don't all get into their cars and drive 30 mins away for lunch etc.. the laundry thing is probably US centric too. Saving people time on trivial things doesn't imply: you must work 12 hour days.

Exactly, I know of a few friends of friends that have left for exactly this. Free food, gyms etc. All to get you there early and for your three meals a day :P

And you can bring an external guest a couple of times a month. If you know someone who works for Google, get on their case. :p

People rightly complain when working conditions are poor

Conspiracy when conditions go above and beyond

Personally I would put the extra time and effort in if I had all my meals and chores done for me

Expect you'd need to perform highly to get these perks. I wonder how many make use of them after the first few weeks/months.

Had an opportunity to go there not so long ago, but didn't want to leave everyone behind outright and move to Ireland, I might think about it again someday though... I have friends who work there and it is pretty immense to be honest,

Using a Citroen CV6 in the French Google area is racial stereotyping - I hope the employees are offered counselling.

Wonder what Google Mexico looks like ?

I can see the area where Allo was first born and its advanced features envisioned.

I can also see the area several feet away where all those features went out the window when the worker decided to climb a damn wall instead.

There are plenty of current and former employees that have written about their experience at Google. I don't want to work there. They have (some of) the best developers in the world working for them, doing mundane work like data entry. When you attract the best of the best, you will have many talented people under utilised. They also have many idiots on their payroll that think they can swagger about because they work for Google. This is also painfully obvious when ever you talk to any of them about their products - trying to give them feedback and all you get in return is derision.
