I wanted to go faster...

It's interesting to note that the 0-60 time of the diesel A3 170 is a full half second faster in the Quattro variant than it is in the FWD version, which speaks volumes about how difficult it is to get the power down through FWD and that's only 170PS/350Nm. 337bhp/427Nm through the front wheels is going to be a nightmare of tyre-shredding wheelspin surely?

i had a a4 tdi130 with some basic engine upgrades. as soon as boost arrived in 1st (about 1300-1400rpm) the tyres had no idea what to do if you were on full throttle. in the wet, in 2nd, you could light them up at will. i spoke to a guy with a 230bhp diesel fabia. that apparently spins them up through 3rd in the dry.

at the end of the day, due to the gearing and rev range, diesels are never going to be good for drag racing, must have a right laugh trying to get the power down on the fwd model :D

i wouldnt fancy my chances with keeping up with one coming out of a tight roundabout

As someone already mentioned, I too have a boost controller. On the lowest setting (0.7bar) it is putting out a 'measly' 277bhp / 324Nm. This is more than adequate for every day driving, and yes, it will still get wheel spin all the way up to third gear. But if you look at the torque curve on the low boost setting here then you can see that it will pull from 3K all the way up to 7K rpm. This is where you'll get the most fun out of it ;)

But from 40 - 100 its probably slower, which, traffic light grand prix aside, is probably a more common use of the power.
