I was a contestant on Dragons Den

I'm surprised at the naivety of people saying they didn't realise it was so staged - this is TV - EVERYTHING you watch is staged/manipulated/produced. TV doesn't just 'happen' - it's made. Even 'live' shows are all staged/scripted/rehearsed. If it wasn't TV would be very boring. A rough ratio of the time taken for recorded stuff, is about 10:1 - i.e. 1 hour of good TV takes around 10 hours of stuff that's thrown away / cut.

Any links to see what goes on behind the scenes in the Apprentice? How is it... "staged"?

I don't think The Apprentice is that staged to be honest. I was filmed pitching a product to the two teams and it was just a normal pitch. I told them about the product. They asked a load of random questions. One pitch ran without any cut and the other had one due to some sunlight problems.

The contestants all seemed to act the same whether the cameras were on them or not.

It is obviously staged to an extent though. For example, all the inventors had to sit as if they were in a doctors waiting room while they filmed everyone just waiting. I did actually used to wonder why they didn't have some banter when they were waiting around. :D

Reality TV isnt quantum mechanics.

You can observe reality without influencing it.. its done all the time.

Its more to do with pointing a camera at something. That changes everything.

You cannot get naturalistic television. The closest is secret filming or maybe CCTV but even that is contrived.
