grim news :/ my mum just shouted up the stairs saying i put your trousers in the wash, and i goes yes,,, she then replys telling me my ipod was in them :'( i havent tried to turn it on or anything like that, but i just wanna know if theres anything i can do other than take it apart? as im quite weary of taking apart due to the fact i dont wanna break it any more lol and also i dont want to fork out on a brezel if they break when you open the ipods up :/

PLEASE HEALP ME! :'(

let it dry out under a lamp or something. but it's probably dead, did basically the same thing to mine a while back and the screen went wierd.

Take apart and put in the airing cupboard whilst in a bowl of rice. Then pray.

The iPod shuffle is quite resilient - I've had several end up in the wash and continue to function after a couple of days on a radiator (albeit with a reduced battery life).
Did have an iPod with an LCD (can't remember which one, but the Touch came out 2 gens after iirc) and that failed big time! Got a Touch 32GB thanks to ext. warranty though! :)

Do not turn it on for 7 days if it went through the wash. 7 days is a bit overkill but my girlfriend left hers off for 3 days after a few seconds of being in the bath.

Dont use a hairdryer or anything like that. Bowl of rice in a warm place is best.

Then leave it to charge for a while switched off before turning on and hoping for the best.

My girlfriends touchscreen never worked after which is why im suggesting to be more sensible about the amount of time you leave it.

Also she just took it back to the shop and got it exchanged in the end :)

Ahh right lol cheers :) if taking it appart is too risky or i have to buy a new brezel to put it back together i might just leave it in a bowl of rice until i one day remember it again lol :D

If it is an ipod touch then as far as im aware it is quite easy to take apart but would require a razor blade down the edge. Not sure about putting back together though and I only know this because i found a guide to change the touchsreen after hers went faulty but didn't need to fix it in the end

A lesson to your mum to always check the pockets before washing clothes.

If its broken make sure she replaces it.

lol jimz its partly my fault for leaving it in the trousers but she would pay to replace it but ill chip in aswell seeing as its party my fault too :P

I put mine in a cardboard box on the radiator with them silica bags (those little bags you get in almost everything boxed) and its working to this day (Gen 3 nano).

I once took mine into the sea without thinking and it kept working until I got out and had some funny looks :PP

ahhh thanks :P i cant seem to find any of them silica things though :/ so i've just put the ipod in the airin cupboard for now and if i get some rice ill put it in therelater :P ill update you guys when i try the ipod and tell you if it works or whats wrong with it :P many thanks :)

Or to put it another way... a lesson to take your stuff out of your pockets. Or a lesson that maybe you should be doing your own washing :p
