I was just reading about Tornado Sirens due to this, and it says after WW2 they were used incase of Nuclear Attack, seriously what use could they possibly be? You're a gona if there's a nuke coming.

Over here in the US, in the 50s I think. They use to tell school kids to hide under thier desk. I know it sounds like a joke, but look it up sometime.

Surely the gov. wasn't that stupid so why did they have schools show that? Thay showed it until the 80s, that is sad.

It gives people a sense of hope if they are told from official sources that there is something they can do to minimise the damage. The fact that hiding under a desk would offer little to no protection is, as far as a government trying to look caring and supportive is concerned, irrelevant.
