How amazing many cities of the world would have been before they were ruined by cars.

London certainly has been - I am going to the Middle East this summer and it sickens me I don't get to see what Byron etc saw.

We just get pollution.

Does anyone know of any city or eveb large town in the world without cars or at least not many?

i can't wait till there is nothing left to run them on.

Amsterdam is one city that has very few cars. Just trams and bikes. Lots and lots of bikes.

they certainly love there bikes. Medical and life insurance is a must over there, due to there crazy cycling.

Singapore is very anti car. I've been and it's very clean, tidy, etc.

How likely would it have been for you to go and visit the Middle East back then? You can't stop the world from changing some is good some is bad at the end of the day 200 years from now it won't be the same as it is today.

I seem to recall hearing that they limit the number of licences or charge huge amounts for them.

yup, totally car free pretty much - just a big carpark on the outskirts and then the actual city is boat/foot access only

I didn't find it particularly "car free", but the public transport system was fantastic, so that does have an impact on needless road use.
