i3 or phenom 555 for gaming ?

i just ordered an phenom 555 ddr2 memeory and mobo for a gaming pc , but now i wonder if i should have gone for the i3 since memory and mobo is just alittle more expensive?

Do not worry too much.

Your Phenom may unlock to a quad core, and you have a possible Bulldozer upgrade path. Enjoy your new PC!

Try and unlock, even if you can't you have a easier upgrade path.

Thats why i never liked intel much, new processor = new board and sometimes new ram not worth the trouble

Bulldozer is definately not going to have the DDR2 memory controller onboard.

If you can't get a quad; try for a tri at least. Unlocked the stock heatsink may struggle!
