i5 2500k cpu cooler

I have the Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP Venom very easy to fit and at £35.74 inc VAT within your budget.

My idle temps on 2500k are 29 and fully loaded never go above 60oC at 4.3Ghz

The Frio is great performance wise but the mounting system is pretty clumsy imo. I guess there isn't a smarter mounting system for it as it's just bloody massive :p

I've just bought the Artic Freezer 13 to improve the cooling on my 2500k. Just installed it so hard to make any decission but has definetly already reduced my idle temps.

My PC is in a warm room so my idle are a little on the high side.

Easy enough to fit but take the time to look through the instructions to make sure you set it up correctly.

I can't really hear it so I'm happy with that as I hate loud fans.

If it were my money I'd probably end up buying a cogage arrow at around £40 it's more or less a thermalright silver arrow but slightly worse.

Only if you wont get ram clearance issues with it though, I'd probably see what the load temps are with the stock cooler first though.

Seems like you guys have persuaded me to go for a more expensive one.

Anyone know the dimensions of the frio, i've read that it is really big. I got a Antec 900 case and already have a titan amanda tec which is very big at 140 x 95 x 170mm

Most quiet £40 max cooler, any suggestions or are they all near enough the same noise level?

what motherboard and ram did you end up buying? I have an asus p8p67 with corsair xms3.

The Frio overhangs slot 1 and 2 with my setup. Corsair xms3 are plain too and still there's not much room between them and the Frio. I can't remove the ram with removing the Frio :p

I'm using an akasa venom on mine, only put it all together last night but running it in at 4Ghz and after running prime for a couple of hours the max temp was only about 45C :)

Aw i was afraid of that, was going to ask you about clearance but then saw your running 8GB, guess thats 2x4GB then?

I've not bought the motherboard yet, still deciding which one. Struggling to come to a decision between the Asus, Gigabyte and MSI. I'll get there eventualy.

I've also got the corsair xms3 2x2GB

I also have the Frio and 2500k with the Haf922 case idle temps are between 29 to 30c but tried Prime 95 and within 10 secs i,m hitting 90c i have tried turning one of the fans around to no avail(both stickers are facing towards the back of the case. Any help please.Just checked and my cores are idling between 33 and 39c.This does,nt look good.
Regards Ady

I already own an AF 7 and AC 5 paste and am taking delivery of my i5 2500k tomorrow. Opted for the Gigabyte p67 us4 motherboard and 2x4gb of RipjawsX. Exciting upgrade from my q8300 775 setup.:)

I'm only planning a moderate OC to 3.8, maybe 4ghz. I'm not paranoid about CPU temp but would like it running at reasonable levels. Is it even worth giving the AF 7 a spin and seeing how it goes, or is it not worth it and I should order an H50 asap?

Edit: I have an antec 300 case with decent air flow.

The h50 isn't particular good for the money - try the hyper 212 for now especially for those clocks. It's £15 from a well known place.
