Quick update.
Managed to get Arctic to send me out a Freezer i30 as a replacement, given the messing about. They did so quite happily and it's been sitting here for a couple of weeks before I finally got round to installing it (been using my Surface Pro 3 for everything anyway).
A lot more awkward to install, in my opinion, but rock solid once in place and a much better bit of kit. In the BIOS I was getting 25 deg C and once booted up 32-36 deg C on all four cores (though I do need to do a fresh install which might help). So a lot better!
