I recall something about them altering the 22nm transistor design too aren't they? Could have something to do with it.

TDP doesn't suprise me due to the improved IGP. Disabling it should knock down the TDP by a fair bit. Should be interesting to see how it goes against the AMD APUs.

Would have considered upgrading to the i7-4770k if there wasn't a change in socket. I could probably have just about justified a move from a 2500k to 4770k as I'm going to start making youtube videos soon. Selling the 2500k would have helped to recoup costs. However a motherboard switch as well would make it too expensive. Unless of course the performance increase is drastic.

Actually good point, motherboard is gonna cost £250-300 min. Maybe I'll get a reduced ivy bridge.

Strange it is called an HD4600??

I would have expected it to be called an HD5000,unless the jump in performance is less than from the HD3000 to HD4000??

According to rumours this is the GT2 version and the GT3 version has more shaders, which are lower clocked to save power.

Why? I doubt the performance difference is going to be huge but it something new i guess.

I am still running an i5 760 so these new processors and socket may tempt me to upgrade.

i wont buy it the day it comes out! but it probably will be my next cpu in 2013

Likewise is strange that the mid range has went 2500k -> 3570k -> 4670k.

The Xeon 1230 v3 (Haswell) will be the chip I end up getting for HTPC, cheap, nice performance and no lame igpu and thus lower power / temps. I don't care about overclocking in HTPC. Roll on Haswell and then Ivybridge - E :D.
