Hi guys basically Windows 7 ultimate froze and when i reset the computer after the post it said that the overclock had caused the system boot to fail.

Its booting ok now but still crashing occasionally. Ive used CPU-ID and its saying the CPU is now back at stock 2.8ghz with normal voltage and other times i boot it the clock speed is at 1.2 ghz, 9x multiplier and 0.849v.

The HD was brand new as well and a clean install of win7 ultimate.
GPU is Msi geforce 460gtx and corsair 650w psu and corsair a50 heatsink.

Any ideas? this was a build i done for my flatmate and its kinda putting him off OC'd components.

The drop in speed you are seeing when idle is called speedstep, the CPU clocking down when not under load. This is normal.

From what you have said, there is no longer a 4GHz overclock on your CPU. Can you give us some more information on your PC? Motherboard? Current BIOS settings? How did you get to 4GHz before?

Ah right if you bought from OcUK and are having issues, I personally would give them a phonecall and chat to them. They will help you. :D
