i5 @ 4ghz bundle only running at 2.8ghz

Do you have to apply thermal paste to the underneath of the h50? , if so wouldnt arctic silver and the h50 be the best way to get the temps down?

The pre-applied tim is good stuff and going as5 or mx3 may only take 2 or 3 degrees off if that. However i think its worth a reseat looking at those temps and possibly a push/pull config with a good set of fans on the rad.
Also if you really want to you could tweak your vcore down and stability check after.

I think I might see what tech support suggest, as I dont want to void my warranty by touching things I know little about. The part attached to the heat sink is firmly inplace, so I dont know what it could be.

I would load the OCUK profile and read some guides about overclocking. Once happy lower the vcore and test for stability. All systems can vary so finding the sweet spot on yours will take some time :)

Well im making progress.

Had the radiator fan the wrong way round for starters  And I just added another fan to the radiator, idles are all around 40c instead of 50c!!
