Hi,

Anyone got any experience of HD video editing using an i5750? I've just built my folks a new rig with one of these and 8GB of RAM but I'm a bit concerned to note that my Dad's preferred software suggests that the min recommended spec for AVCHD editing is a 2.8GHz i7. I'm hoping to OC the i5 to 3GHz but is there any reason why an i5 wont be suitable?

Could be an expensive mistake otherwise!

Thanks,

The i5 750 is basically a 2.66 GHz i7 with hyperthreading turned off. In multithreaded applications an i7 at the same clockspeed can be up to 25% faster - but usually the difference is much less than that

In conclusion, your dad should be A-OK and overclocking is a good plan - looks like that software will make good use of the extra clockspeed.

althou the i7 would be better, they are abit more money.

the i5 will still do a good job anyways, its not all that far behind, especially if your on a budget
