i5 or i7

Can anyone recommend a single-level cell SSD around 60Gb?

I think that's gonna be expensive. My favourite was Intel X25-E 64G, for which I paid OcUK about £600 two years ago. Just heard news that Intel's gonna increase the price of X25-E soon, possibly due to the reduced supply of flash. Not sure about today's SLC though.

For what you get with the i7 2600k over the i5 2500k, unless you are doing a lot of processor hungry work like heavy video editing, or a load of 3d animation and modelling, it isn't really worth it. Even if you do a bit of video editing, it will still do great on the i5 2500k.

There are other things that you could spend the money on, like a solid state drive, or a bigger hard drive, or an extra hard drive, or even some peripherals to enhance what you do on the PC.

Well I think that’s just about made my mind up (I think lol)

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
Asus P8P67 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge)
GeIL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Dual Channel

and when I can afford it:
Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive or similar

Any good?

Just need a reasonable graphics card now – under £50 if possible, but I guess that should be a new thread.

when it comes to a low budget for the gpu, go second hand, 2nd owner GPU's are probably the best value for money out of all the pc components. New ones come out so often yet the levels of improvements seen to the casual gamer are pretty small, so it means you can pick up a pretty capable card that'll still play most games at high settings for under £100. Add a few quid to your budget and you probably could get a GTX280, which is easily good enough to still hack it in todays games.

Sorry to jump on this thread but I've been looking at building a system for video editing and have been considering the i5 2500k or the i7 2600. Why would the i7 be better for video editing?

I think (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) it's due to the Hyperthreading that the i7 has that the i5 doesn't. There are no games I'm aware of that make use of HT, and probably won't be for a while, but there are apps that'll make use of it, so you will see improvements in video editing with an i7 over an i5.
